Paysafe is currently seeking a new Regulatory Counsel based in our London on Dublin office.
Key Responsibilities
Legal analysis and impact assessment of existing and upcoming regulation- Detailed analysis of existing and upcoming regulation on national, European and international level in the fields of
- financial regulation
- gambling regulation
- AML regulation
- Assess the impact of regulation on the various business lines of the Group and translate the impact analysis to the business (including gathering of relevant business data etc)
- Monitoring of legislative changes
- Review of industry related publications, newsletters etc
- Effectively manage external counsel for updates on new legislative developments
- Participation in industry specific conferences
- Strategic positioning and governmental affaires
- Draft position papers, responses to public consultations and attending Represent the Group in national and international industry bodies
- Participate in industry bodies, like e.g. EMA
- Represent the Group’s position
- Preparation of internal regulatory reports
- Assist in the preparation of internal reports relating to regulatory developments
- Topic related work
- E.g. Brexit, answer questions around PSD2
Essential Skills
Keen interest in regulation- Knowledge of the online payments landscape
- Strong legal and analytical skills, a quick mind and the ability to assess and understand the impact of regulation on the business
- Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills as well as the ability to effectively communicate regulatory developments to relevant parties in a timely manner
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop solid relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Fluent in written and spoken English, German language ability an advantage
- Ability to effectively manage outside counsel and political advisors
- Willingness to travel
Experience Required
The role will suit a 5+ year PQE lawyer with enthusiasm for working with a major provider of payment services. Ideally you will have:
- experience in a top tier firm and/or experience in legal and compliance issues within a regulated business
- experience in and understanding of the domestic and international regulation in the field of payment services or gambling regulation
- an international profile and experience (internship in one of the European institutions would be a nice add-on)
- strong academic credentials
Location and Travel
The position shall be based in London or Dublin and will require willingness to travel.
