POSITION SUMMARY:
Performs varied and responsible work in the registration, transfer of students, and preparation and maintenance of student records in all high schools. Employees in this class perform work in accordance with established regulations and policies, and are expected to exercise mature judgment and tact in working with confidential information. General supervision is received from the principal and the guidance department chairperson. The registrar demonstrates the ability to assume increasing responsibility, assemble and organize data and prepare reports from this data. Work may include assignments in support of other administrative program activities such as data entry, guidance and library.
This is an ACE/AFSCME, Local 2250, 1 2 -Month Position, Pay Table 700 - Grade 15
Hourly Range: $1 9.87 - $39.63

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Establishes and maintains a comprehensive records system for students, including withdrawals and graduates; prepares folders and forms, and enters subjects, grades, credits, test information, unit summary, and summary of attendance;
Checks records of incoming students to ensure proper grade placement; carries out contacts with new students and their parents and/or previous school to obtain information; assists in evaluating transcripts of students out-of-state and out-of-county to establish credit and grades;
Assists in checking records to assure that students are meeting specific requirements of graduation, and refer cases as necessary to counselors; records program changes;
Organizes and maintains cumulative folders of incoming students, in-school students, withdrawals and graduates;
Prepares transcripts for college, employment and other requests, and keeps record thereof;
Prepares diploma lists and assists in checking diplomas for accuracy, reviews graduates records for accuracy prior to microfilming;
Computes statistical reports associated with surveys and research; computes grade point averages;
Processes a variety of student and school administrative information and data using remote terminals;
Processes a variety of typing in connection with the forgoing duties; and
Performs other general office and related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Considerable knowledge of modern office practices, procedures with specific reference to keeping records, through knowledge of school curriculum and course credit system;
Good knowledge of business English, vocabulary, spelling and arithmetic;
Previous experience in or ability to learn information processing and data entry from remote terminals;
Ability to type at the established rate of speed;
Ability to organize and assemble data and prepare reports;
Ability to work independently;
Ability to use sound judgment; tack and courtesy; and
Must be in good physical condition.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS :
Completion of a standard high school diploma or GED with considerable experience in performing general clerical work of a progressively responsible nature; some of which shall have involved the maintenance of student records; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

No direct supervisory responsibilities.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 25 lbs.
