The Role
We are looking for a Registered Veterinary Nurse or Student Veterinary Nurse to join our team here at Park Issa Veterinary Hospital.
The shift pattern is flexible, and we can make it suit the candidate. We use an out of hours provider, so our on call just involves caring for any in-patients we have overnight. The sleep-in shifts are paid by the hour, and an additional bonus is provided if any nursing duties are completed out-of-hours. In addition to financial benefits for on-call, we also provide spacious, pet-friendly on-site accommodation, which includes a kitchen, bathroom, and several bedrooms which have all the homely amenities.
There is a requirement to contribute to our shared out of hours rota, currently a one in five weekends and one night a week. After working a weekend, you get a long weekend in lieu (4 days off), during the week you get the following day off. During the day there is a varied rota allowing a good mix of anaesthesia, nurse consults, inpatient care, lab work, administration work and much more! We want you to enjoy what you do and work to your strengths, so if there is an area of particular interest, we can facilitate this.
Package
Salary up to £29,000 depending on experience
Relocation allowance up to £1,000
About Us
The practice is based in Shropshire with beautiful surroundings and great transport links to Liverpool and Manchester. Our main practice has hospital status, and as such we see a wide variety of interesting caseloads with a good mix of surgery and medicine. We have invested in modern equipment to benefit our nurses, vets, and patients. The nurses consult room is the most impressive in the practice, with a beautiful oak panelled back wall, it encompasses the history of the building and the practice.
Our branch practice in Wrexham holds vet and nurse consultations, and we also escort pets to and from here using our pet ambulance to have surgery or hospitalisation in the main practice. Our nurses rotate between this practice in Wrexham and our Oswestry site, so the successful applicant will be required to have a Full UK driving license to enable them to drive practice vehicles.
About the Team and Culture
As a fun, close-knit team of 12 veterinary surgeons, 9 registered veterinary nurses, 1 nursing student, 2 veterinary care assistants, 9 reception staff, plus a cleaner and a handyman, there is always an excellent support network available. We have also supported Mental Health Research UK since its inception, raising nearly £20k so far, and there is a great social side to the practice, with many out-of-work events being arranged on a regular basis. In June we are doing an escape room and last month we had an Easter baking contest!
Applicant Requirements
We are looking for a part or full time registered veterinary nurse, students also welcomed to apply and considered for this role. We can offer great support for a student and are a registered training practice. A full clean UK driving licence held for more than one year is a requirement.
