East Cheshire NHS Trust
Full Time Macclesfield, England 20270 - 21318 GBP ANNUAL Today
Job description

East Cheshire NHS Trust (ECT) are looking to recruit 4 enthusiastic and motivated individuals to our Nurse Degree Apprenticeship program. As an apprentice, you will be based, as a paid employee, within ECT. This will enable you to ‘earn as you learn’ through the apprenticeship route in affiliation with Staffordshire University (Stoke-on-Trent campus) incorporating work-based learning over three years, starting September 2022. You will be working towards becoming a Registered Nurse with a BSc Hons Degree.

The Nurse Degree Apprentice role is offered at AFC Band 2 and upon successful completion of the training program you will be able to progress to a Band 5 Registered Nurse position (**subject to vacancies/EOI**).

You will experience working across both internal and external placements to gain an appreciation of the different areas of local healthcare service and meet the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) requirements.

We are looking for passionate individuals who want to develop within the NHS and further their career whilst demonstrating our values.

This post is an Apprenticeship for 3 years.

Hours per week: 37.5

As part of the programme, the Apprentice will be required to:

  • Deliver high-quality, compassionate care under the direction of a Registered Nurse (or other registered care professionals) with a focus on promoting patient health and independence.
  • Successfully complete and pass the academic elements of the programme as specified by the Approved Higher Education Institute and the Institute for Apprenticeships & Technical Education (IFATE) standards.
  • Successfully complete the nursing competencies as specified by the NMC Standards of Proficiency for Registered Nurses.
  • Have sound attitudes and behaviours compatible with the NHS and organisational values.
  • Work as part of the care team delivering care that focuses on the direct needs of the patient.
  • Work with practice supervisors, practice assessors and academic assessors taking responsibility for developing your own competence while on practice learning experiences and attending academic study; maintaining evidence of your learning.
  • Demonstrate a flexible and dynamic attitude, both to practice learning and academic studies.
  • Exercise personal responsibility and work under the supervision of a registered professional and within defined parameters of practice.
  • Ensure that only those activities for which competence has been achieved are undertaken without direct supervision and that recognition is given to the impact of consequences of practising outside capability.
Whether you are just starting out in your career or are looking to use your skills and experience in a new role, East Cheshire NHS Trust is the right employer for you. An organisation with a real sense of community we actively support and develop our staff to ensure our patients receive the best quality care, delivering the right care first time, every time.

COVID-19 vaccination remains the best way to protect yourself, your family, your colleagues and of course our patients from the virus when working in our healthcare settings. Whilst COVID-19 vaccination is not a condition of employment at this time, we do encourage our staff to get vaccinated. We will be checking the vaccination status of all new starters so that we can manage individual and environmental risks, and so that we can support those who may be undecided about vaccination. If you are unvaccinated there is helpful advice and information athttps://www.eastcheshirehrdirect.nhs.uk. There is a current Government consultation underway which will determine whether some new starters may need to be vaccinated.

Please be aware that this post requires an Enhanced with Barred list Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, the cost of which is payable by the successful candidate. If you have lived or worked abroad for 6 months or more in the last 5 years you will need to obtain an overseas police clearance.
