UK & Ireland is a top 5 market for Coty worldwide and therefore critical to the success of total Coty Inc. The business is spread across all channels including high street customers, e-commerce players, the grocers, flagships / dept stores and 2 distributors, one operating in Ireland & one covering the pharmacy & field channel in the UK. The Coty team is located in Wimbledon, London.
The role will report to the Divisional CFO based in Amsterdam and have a dotted line to the Managing director for UK & Ireland.
Role Description
The key responsibilities of the role are: to act as Finance functional leader for the UK & Ireland team, be a key member of the UK & Ireland leadership team, and to be a legal director of all UK & Ireland entities for statutory governance.
You will work closely with the Managing director on a day-to-day basis, acting as co-pilot, to strategically and operationally lead the business, with full P&L, balance sheet & working capital oversight. Prior experience in commercial finance roles, preferably in the FMCG industry, combined with solid statutory finance and technical skills will be key to success in this role
The key responsibilities of the role include:
Leadership of total UK/I financial affairs – incl. P&L & balance sheet ownership
Acting as legal director for all UK & Ireland legal entities and ensuring statutory requirements are met
Owning vision and values of the UK finance team
Building and developing the organization to develop future Finance talent
Playing a key role on the UK/I senior leadership team and partnering closely with the Managing director for all decision making
Ensuring achievement of business targets (on annual and quarterly basis)
Providing insightful analysis around revenue and cost drivers of the business
Collaborating multifunctionally across the organization to build the business and improve financial acumen of business partners
Ownership for the production of the annual budget, ongoing forecasts and long-term strategic planning
Leading month end closing processes with accountability for approving financial statements
Controlling and optimising the Net Working Capital position, with special focus on Accounts receivable
Reviewing existing processes and systems and identifying areas for improvement
Owning and driving robust internal controls and ensuring SOX compliance
Developing insightful presentations for executive meetings

The candidate will manage 2 distinct finance teams –
Wimbledon based Commercial finance team of 10, covering FP&A, Brand and Sales finance, who partner closely with the Commercial teams to deliver accurate forecasts and actual results, as well as partnering to drive improved business performance and Return on Investment.
The team is structured into 3 groups led by 3 direct reports: Financial Planning & Analysis Director who leads planning & actuals closing processes; Brand finance senior manager, who partners with the Marketing SVP; and Sales Finance director who partners with the Sales SVP. They each have a small team of direct reports.
Ashford and Bournemouth based Custodian finance team of 11. The team are led by the Legal entity controller who also acts as senior accounting officer. They handle all the accounting and statutory reporting requirements, as well as cash collection and payables. They partner closely with our teams at Accenture who provide a customer facing team for cash collection and additional back-office support across multiple areas.
Candidate Profile
Potential candidates should bring 10+ years of professional experience in Finance and Accounting, preferably gained within the FMCG industry or other Beauty sectors. You should be a qualified accountant, preferably CIMA, or have a relevant degree in accounting & business, and have some experience of managing statutory requirements. Having experience gained at a senior level would be another requirement.
Strong business leadership, influencing and communication skills are essential for this role, as is strong emotional intelligence combined with significant change management experience.
This job will require an individual who can motivate and challenge the team and one who can show how finance adds value to the business. Developing the finance team will be a key organizational priority.
