Job description
Have 24 hour responsibility for managing staff and budgets to ensure the standards and quality of care and the environment in which they are delivered are maintained and improved. Ensure high quality, evidencebased care is offered to patients and, in collaboration with the Matron, identify the common issues which affect the quality of care devising clear action plans to address any shortcomings ensuring agreed action is undertaken. Includes developing, implementing and maintaining patient care policies and procedures, clinical guidelines and protocols where appropriate. In collaboration with all members of multi-professional team, ensure that the baby and family have a satisfactory experience by evaluating patient processes and redesigning the pathway of care including external agencies and also other hospitals.
In conjunction with the Appraisal/Individual Performance Review process, undertake training needs analysis for a defined group of staff and share with the Practice Development Nurse for collation annually, to contribute to and inform the Neonatal and Childrens training plan.
