We are very excited to offer an excellent opportunity for a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to lead our team of nurses on Gateley Ward, which specialises in Orthopaedics, Trauma and Spinal Surgery, admitting Trauma, and Elective, and Emergency spinal patients. We have a progressive and friendly team committed to delivering high standards to all patients under our care.

The successful candidate will be highly motivated, adaptable and ambitious and will lead on development and delivery of high standards of nursing care to our trauma and elective patients within the department.

This is an exciting and progressive department which is continuously adapting to meet and enhance the care provided to our patients and we would welcome any applicants who would relish leading the team and continue taking the department forward.

The post holder will be responsible for the line management of the nursing team.

You will lead and work as part of the team, providing professional leadership and management within the work environment.

You will also provide direct patient care, demonstrating specialist knowledge and act as a resource and role model for the clinical team.

  • The new Elective Orthopaedic Centre (NANOC) will be opening in 2023 providing 2 additional Theatres and 21 beds

Clinical
  • Ensure practice is in accordance with the NMC code of Professional conduct and work within limits of competence.
  • To maintain high standards of care by personal example and conduct and be a credible practitioner in the area.
  • Have overall responsibility for the ward area.
  • Participate in the daily personal care of patients.
  • To be responsible for Ward/Department nursing staff and to provide a quality and cost effective service in accordance with Trust policy and procedures
Management and Leadership
  • To develop a positive team culture and manage recruitment and retention of the workforce.
  • To demonstrate and promote professional, clinical and managerial leadership acting as a resource and providing guidance to own staff.
  • To ensure effective liaison and professional relationships with all members of the multi-disciplinary teams
  • To lead on the dissemination of information across the team and ensure that Directorate/Divisional and Trust communications are effectively passed on to all members and that staff concerns and interests are represented at Directorate level.
