Job overview

We are looking for two enthusiastic and motivated Band 5 Mental Health Nurses to join our Community Mental Health Team.

This is an exciting opportunity as these are development post from Band 5 to Band 6 after 18 months. This is subject to completing the necessary reviews and appraisal in order to meet the job specification of a band 6. This post would suit a newly qualified nurse as well as those with more post-qualification experience.

We are looking for an individual who is motived to support the development and delivery of Community Mental Health services across the team's footprint. One post will be focusing on the needs of older people and the other for working age adults.

Main duties of the job

  • Manage individual casework in the most efficient manner possible, whilst maintaining the highest standards of care.
  • To manage a defined caseload.
  • Maintain recording systems in line with trust standards.
  • Delivering professional standards of care to the very highest using evidence based practice.
  • Assisting medical staff, and members of the primary care team, voluntary agencies and other professionals, to meet the needs of the people of East locality.
  • Participate in team meetings and review client care and needs with a senior members of the community mental health team,.
  • Interpreting Trust and National Health Service policies for clients and family and professionals as required.
  • Ensuring that all communications with colleagues, clients and families are clearly understood, giving written confirmation of verbal communications where there is observed to be a need.
  • Promote the recovery agenda with service users.
  • Taking responsibility for maintaining and advancing own professional knowledge and keeping abreast with current developments.

New entrants to the NHS will commence on the minimum of the scale stated above.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team
  • Specialist knowledge relevant to the service
  • Working knowledge of all relevant legislation
