The successful candidate will have an interest in peri-operative care and be able to thrive in a busy area with many time pressures and deadlines.

Obtain a thorough medical profile of each patient using assessment skills. Make clinical decisions against protocol regarding their health and fitness.
Plan patient care to optimise health prior to admission – including complex issues requiring the Nurse to be the person in communication between members of multidisciplinary teams.
To work unsupervised, guided by hospital protocols and manage the caseloads to ensure patients are seen close to appointment time and that all follow-ups are done.
Provide health promotion and patient teaching to optimise health prior to surgery – smoking cessation, fasting, and medicines management.
Complete additional training to perform 12 lead ECG recording and venepuncture.
Alter patients medication regime according to protocol during the pre-operative period.
Maintain effective documentation, ensuring safe custody of medical/nursing records.
Ensure patients are physically and mentally prepared for surgery.
Perform front desk duties including greeting patients, obtaining observations and nasal swabs.
Administer subcutaneous injections against prescription.
We are always looking for enterprising and innovative approaches to the way we provide our services. We are a national Centre for telemedicine and introduced telehealth to the UK offender healthcare sector and also provide the service to patients in their care homes. Community matters to us and we are supported by 400 dedicated volunteers and have strong links with Bradford University, Craven College and Leeds City College to ensure we inspire the workforce of the future.
We want to attract staff who embrace our ‘Right Care’ behaviours of compassion, a commitment to quality of care and working together for patients – we want to make these part of our DNA.
