Job description
To contribute to the development, planning and delivery of the Neo-natal BCG vaccination programme To undertake appropriate health assessments prior to Immunisation, in line with national guidance, Immunisation policy and the best evidence based practice. To liaise with organisations and families providing clear relevant information promoting Immunisations and supporting the process of obtaining informed consent. To work in partnership if required with the school aged immunisation service to ensure services are maintained- including both the BCG immunisation programme and school aged immunisation programme. To deliver the immunisations ensuring safe and best practice is maintained in line with trust policy and the national recommendations within a variety of settings.
To maintain accurate record keeping both manually and electronically. To participate in relevant training in order to maintain skills regarding Immunisations. To be competent in all aspects of Immunisations and act as a resource for professionals, public education and other services. To participate in the induction and training of new staff, student nurses and other appropriate care workers.
To assist in the ordering of vaccines and Immunisation equipment, ensuring safe storage and transportation as per trust policy and national guidelines. To work flexibly, this may include some evenings and weekends in order to provide an accessible service.
