Are you an enthusiastic, experienced and motivated paediatric nurse who is passionate about delivering high quality care to the children of Preston and surrounding area?

The Paediatric unit is looking for a band 6 to join our team following progression within the team. We offer an induction package with a ward based educator. The Trust also offers a package of health and well-being support to all staff.

As a band 6 in Paediatrics, you will be responsible for the day to day coordination of the unit and will work closely with the ward manager and other leaders. The role is both a clinical role and a leadership role and as such you will be responsible for staff appraisals, the completion of the off duty, liaising with the clinical educator regards training, managing absence and performance management.

Working with others we have close links with the Paediatric Assessment Unit, ED, Children’s Outpatients department and paediatric community service. Our ward based team is multi-disciplinary including physios, pharmacist, play specialists, patient experience coordinator and supportive external CAMHS team.

To ensure the day to day efficient running of the paediatric ward providing strong leadership, monitoring and maintaining standards of care and professional practice.

Be responsible for ensuring the planning, delivery and evaluation of care to meet the personalised health and wellbeing care needs of patients, in line with the Trust’s values and Nursing and Midwifery Professional Framework

Ensure effective management of the area including management of personnel, facilities and associated systems and processes

Act as a role model, presenting a positive image of self, team and the organisation

Be responsible for the delivery and coordination of care, through appropriate professional practice

Ensure a high standard of nursing is delivered by self and others based on assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care to meet patient’s needs in accordance with agreed local and National standards and evidence based guidelines

Set, monitor and maintain standards of care to improve the patient experience and outcome of care

Proactively manage risk and maintain patient safety, conforming to health, safety and security legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines

Promote provision of patient education and health promotion

Communicate all relevant information to the multidisciplinary team internally and with external organisations as required, to ensure seamless care
