Due to the success of our team, International SOS is currently expanding and recruiting a Coordinating Nurse, to be based in fabulous offices in Chiswick, London. This is a full-time office position, with no nightshifts. This is your chance to join a global team who strive for the best possible care for each and every patient.
Focusing on quality, patient contact and excellent care, you will be working within a truly international team and liaising with colleagues in the offices of 26 different countries; escalating to international SOS Regional and local Medical Directors for case direction and advice.
Key responsibilities
Dealing with ‘First Call’ telephone triage/ assessments (sometimes urgent or emergent) from any country in the world, providing appropriate, evidence-based advice and medical direction to patients- Pre-trip travel advice, including medical assessment and travel vaccination requirements, usually high-risk locations
- Providing medical advice whilst abroad, interpreting medical situations with a tailored risk analysis of condition vs geographical location
- Arrangement of evacuations and repatriations, either via commercial carrier or air ambulance from all over the world
- Medical monitoring of in-patients, providing referrals on where to seek the best possible medical care in a specific location from internal network of providers
- Liaising with international medical professionals to obtain medical assessments for members admitted across the globe
- Pandemic & Crisis support
- Reviewing medical reports to ensure patients are receiving the best care possible in their location
- Assessing standards of care and providing guidance on travel and fitness to fly following illness or injury
About you
NMC registered for three years or more- Experienced in acute care, intensive care or emergency medicine, travel / global health, public health, cruise ship experience, military nursing, humanitarian / NGO work
- Able to identify critical medical issues and act promptly to escalate and case manage
- Able to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment, adaptable and empathetic
- Excellent telephone manner and technical skills (MS Word, Excel PowerPoint, Databases)
- Proficient in written and spoken English language with good communication skills
