Band 5 Registered Nurse - Dual Role (The Greater Peterborough Network/ The Grange Medical Practice)
Hours: Between 8am to 6pm, 7 days a week
Location: Peterborough and surrounding areas
Salary: £15.33 – £22.60 per hour

This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced, growing organisation as a Band 5 Registered Nurse with dual roles at the Grange Medical Practice and the Greater Peterborough Network (GPN). In this position, you will have the chance to work in a dynamic GP practice and contribute to the development and improvement of services offered by GPN.
You will have the opportunity to not only work for a small family practice where you will be able to build up a positive rapport with your patients and the family when you are working for the Grange Medical Practice, but you will also have the perfect opportunity to be able to grow and develop your role with the GPN as an organisation that is constantly growing.
You will need to be forward-thinking, flexible, and eager for challenges. Teamwork is essential in this role, as you will closely collaborate with various teams within GPN. Additionally, as GPN continues to expand, you will play a key role in implementing community-based interventions and services over the next 12 months. This dual role offers a unique opportunity to work with the Grange Medical Practice and provide clinical oversight for the services offered by GPN to patients across Peterborough. As part of the GP federations, you will also support Healthcare Assistants (HCAs) and ensure the delivery of high-quality care.

Combined Job Responsibilities:
- Work within codes of practice and professional guidelines, using evidence-based practice and clinical reasoning skills to undertake holistic assessments of patients, including those with complex presentations and multi-pathologies. Recognise abnormalities, screen patients for disease risk factors, and identify early signs of illness.
- Promote independence and avoid hospital admissions whenever possible. Reduce inpatient length of stay and ensure patients receive appropriate care in the most suitable setting. Act as a patient advocate, providing information, health education, and support to facilitate patient choice in nursing care.
- Organise and manage own time, delegate work appropriately, and contribute to risk assessments and health and safety assessments. Report any changes or newly identified risks immediately. Ensure clinical care is effective and appropriate, adhering to Trust policies and NMC guidance.
- Effectively communicate verbally with patients, carers, and colleagues, employing tact and persuasive skills. Adapt communication techniques for patients with difficulties in communication, such as hearing loss, diminished sight, depression, speech problems, cognitive impairment, behavioural problems, and pain.
- Maintain accurate and timely written recordsin compliance with Trust policies and NMC guidance. Support the Community nursing team with day-to-day planning and delivery of high-quality care. Participate in regular supervision and the GPNs Annual Appraisal process.
- Provide patients with direct access to a practice nurse in surgery and offer telephone consultations when necessary. Utilise nursing skills to obtain comprehensive health histories, conduct examinations, make diagnoses, and treat patients within agreed protocols.
- Undertake QOF reviews as required, including tasks such as cervical cytology, new patient health checks, wound management, immunizations, and performing ECGs as requested by clinicians.
- Ensure cleanliness and appropriate stocking of clinical areas. Order medical stocks in a timely manner and ensure correct booking of supplies. Oversee Infection Prevention Control monitoring and manage cold chain procedures.
- Provide a telephone triage service, offering health advice and/or urgent appointments to patients requesting assistance.
- Contribute to quality improvement effortsby auditing practice data.
- Foster and enhance teamwork and communication within the practice.
- Participate in the development and implementation of practice processes.
- Mentor Healthcare Assistants (HCAs) to support their professional growth.
- Engage in personal and professional Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
- Participate in annual appraisals and support the practice in becoming a learning organization.
- Trained in Smears, Immunisations, Simple and Complex Dressings, Injections (ie Zoladex)
Requirements:
Essential:
Nursing: 1 year (required)
Licence/Certification:
- Registered Nurse (RN) (required)
- NMC (required)
Desirable:
- Previous experience in primary care, including phlebotomy, cannulation, and IV training.
- Possession of a full UK Driving License and access to own vehicle.
- Willingness and ability to undergo additional training as required.
- Outgoing, caring, and patient demeanour.
- Proficient in general IT skills.
- Competent in performing spirometry tests.
- Capable of assisting with minor surgical procedures.
- Able to provide comprehensive travel advice and administer vaccinations.
- Skilled in providing ear care services.
- Knowledgeable in smoking cessation techniques.
- Capable of assisting with implants and IUCD fitting, if required by a Doctor.
- Proficient in initiating and conducting ambulatory 24-hour blood pressure monitoring.
- Able to interpret results and take appropriate actions based on findings.
