Butterwick House Children’s in-patient unit has recently undergone a full review of services which has led to us requiring highly skilled, motivated and enthusiastic nurses to join our existing team. Following the development of our children’s services we are in need of full and part time Registered nurses to join the team in providing excellent care within our children’s hospice which is a 6 bedded unit providing planned respite, emergency and end of life care.
You will be part of a highly competent, motivated and talented team of Registered Nurses and Health Care Technicians to deliver a broad range of nursing services.
We are looking for caring and conscientious Registered Children’s or Learning Disabilities Nurses with an interest in palliative care alongside experience in working with children/young adults with complex health needs.
Main duties of the job
As an ideal candidate you will need to be able to demonstrate a desire to develop and maintain your professional standards and excellent nursing care, whilst understanding and appreciating the needs of patients with life limiting illnesses and the needs of their loved ones.
Good communication skills, a high level of self-discipline and self-motivation are a must. Flexibility is required to allow for a full range of shift cover. It is essential that you are able to deal with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
You will have energy and enthusiasm, commitment, and the ability to successfully deal with the daily challenges of palliative care. In addition, you will need to:
Be a Registered Children’s or Learning Disabilities Nurse with experience in working with children/young adults with complex healthcare needs
Be able to demonstrate appropriate and continued personal/professional development.
Be able to take the lead in patient care, linking in with specialist nurses and doctors in the wider MDT.
Contribute to the creation and sustaining of a friendly, welcoming, and caring environment in an informal nature, minimising instructional practices.
A palliative care qualification and/or ENB 998/C&G 730 Teaching Certificate are desirable but not essential for the role.
