Regional Director - Glasgow City Region - (2200005R)
Key to Scotland’s future economic prosperity is the sustainable growth of a visitor economy that delivers a wealthier, fairer and greener Scotland, as set out in the National Strategy for Economic Transformation (NSET). The Destination Development Team has a unique role to play in influencing how the visitor economy plays its part in the growth of strong regional economies and makes a significant contribution to the responsible tourism ambition of Scotland Outlook 2030.
The Regional Director for the Glasgow City Region role makes a significant contribution to delivery of NSET, Scotland Outlook 2030 and key elements of VisitScotland’s Strategic Framework. The postholder will work to ensure tourism is front and centre in plans across the region, creating a positive and supportive climate for the tourism industry and informing and shaping major investments in the visitor economy. This can only be achieved by working effectively and efficiently with a wide range of partners and stakeholders, such as local authorities, enterprise agencies, destinations, sectoral and industry associations and key businesses.

In order to be considered for the Regional Director role, we ask that you can demonstrate in CV and Covering Letter the following:
- Significant understanding and experience of leading and influencing strategic destination development at a regional and/or destination level
- Significant experience in senior partnership management roles, working across local authorities and influencing senior officers in public and private sector
- Significant understanding and experience of effective and collaborative working at a senior level across the public and private sectors
- Significant experience of working on your own initiative
- Experience of contributing to the delivery of national targets and strategies
- Experience of successful delivery of outcomes from collaborative working
- Proficient in developing strategies and plans with input from multiple partners
- Proficient in developing ideas, seeking and managing input from multiple partners
- Excellent relationship building and networking skills
- Excellent verbal, written and presentational communication skills
- Digitally engaged
- Ability to influence internal and external partners at all levels
- Degree or equivalent level of experience
- Driving licence
