Salary: £29,561.08 - £32,595.68

We have vacancies across the county for HGV Refuse Drivers.
Based from our depot in Malton, in the Vale of Pickering, you will be covering a significant rural area with picturesque towns and villages.
You must have a Category C driving entitlement / HGV Licence, some knowledge and experience of operations a large goods vehicle and a focus and knowledge of safe working practices and general Health and Safety principles.
You will be provided with set routes in your area of North Yorkshire where you will need to safely navigate your vehicle and crew through, ensuring that residents obtain the excellent and friendly service they expect.
The role is a hugely important one. You will be on the front-line of a key service in the newly formed North Yorkshire council and therefore one of the faces for the new council.

The role is one that can naturally lead onto further supervisor or operational management roles, or further development opportunities to move into another of our vast services. You will be working in a supportive environment with regular supervision and many staff benefits.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Operating o-licence vehicles in and around the county
- Supervising small crews in your dedicated area of the county
- Responsible for the safe operation of Large Goods Vehicles [LGV] up to 32t. Ensuring the vehicle is clean and in good working order
- Collecting residual waste, garden waste, food waste or recyclable materials from domestic properties.
- To take ownership over issues and be responsible for accurate reporting accidents, acting as the appointed person in relation to first aid
Typical working days and hours currently vary between different areas of the new council, but you need to be prepared to start early. Some weekend and bank holiday working may be required.
