Weekly Hours Worked: 35hrs – Monday to Friday - 9 to 5.

Firebrand Training have an exciting new opportunity for a Security Operations Apprentice with Royal Horticultural Society, a leading charity gardening company based in Woking.
Job Description:
To support the RHS IT department in the strategic implementation, operation, and support of IT security initiatives.
The RHS runs essential IT infrastructure at their own sites, in DC hosting centres, and an ever-increasing presence in Public Cloud (notably Azure), as well as some 3rdparty locations to support shows etc. This role is primarily focused on working as part of the helpdesk to manage cyber security incidents and related tools and processes that could affect the Confidentiality, Integrity, or Availability of the aforementioned RHS infrastructure.
Your duties and responsibilities in this role will consist of:
- Working as part of the helpdesk, perform initial security Event of Intertest triage, managing resulting incidents or escalating where appropriate.
- Maintain the asset register.
- Monitor and maintain security agents, antivirus products, patching process, backup processes and other related security tools and processes.
- Monitor the results of vulnerability assessments and escalate where appropriate in accordance with relevant procedures.
- Work with existing RHS operations resources to develop cyber incident response plans.
- Assist with the delivery of the Cyber Awareness Training program.
- To assist in the documentation of RHS IT environment.
- To adhere to current Health and Safety legislation and best practice in accordance with the Society’s Health and Safety Policy Statement.
- To undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required of you in the post.
Qualifications:
- 5 GCSEs grades A*-C/9-4 or equivalent (including English Language and Maths)

The role offers a permanent role upon completion of the apprenticeship depending on performance.
Training to be provided:
Firebrand’s sector leading Level 3 Cyber Security Technician (L3CST) Apprenticeship Programme trains the apprentice to implement a series of technical, procedural, and physical controls to monitor, detect and respond to a wide range of cyber security threats and maintain business continuity.
The apprentice will learn about cyber risk and mitigation with a focus on maintaining the confidentiality, integrity and availability of digital data. They will use their skills and experiences to feed into policy decisions of a cyber security awareness culture within the business.
The apprentice will receive a thorough understanding of current and future technologies, threat analysis techniques and controls used to mitigate or remediate cyber security risks.
Firebrands course is delivered either Online (online live instructor led), or face to face in the classroom environment (your choice). Our Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Learning Mentors (LMs) and world-leading trainers prepare apprentices to work across multiple sectors.
Completion of this apprenticeship will provide learners with the following world class vendor certifications in addition to the Cyber Security Technician apprenticeship:
- BCS Certificate of Information Security Management Principles (CISMP)
