Job summary

We have an excellent opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic Recruitment Officer to join our HR Team based at Wincanton Health Centre for 37.5 hours per week on a Fixed term basis for 6 months. You will be part of a team supporting our 22 GP practice sites across Somerset and Devon with their recruitment and HR needs. The role will also involve working remotely from home and some travel between sites in Somerset and Devon.

You will have a professional approach and will be flexible and responsive to the needs of internal and external customers. You will be part of a busy and dynamic HR team so need to have excellent communication and organisation skills and know how to re-prioritise as necessary. This role requires the successful candidate to be confident in dealing with managers and staff at all levels and to have a can do attitude. You will be innovative, solution focused and resilient.

Main duties of the job

The Recruitment Officer will be responsible for delivering a professional recruitment service and positive experience for candidates throughout the on-boarding process. The post holder will also contribute to the implementation of a new electronic recruitment system across the organisation.

You will manage the end to end recruitment process for both clinical and non-clinical roles, including advertising vacancies, collating applications, generating offers and contract paperwork, conducting pre-employment checks and maintaining electronic and manual systems in conjunction with a variety of administrative activities.

Job responsibilities

  • Advertising posts via a number of platforms and promoting adverts through social media and managing any queries.
  • Manage end to end Recruitment process for both clinical and non-clinical posts, including advertising vacancies, collating applications, generating offers and contract paperwork and completing pre-employment checks.
  • Managing high volume recruitment activities.
  • Accountable for compliance of NHS employment checks / safer recruitment standards and CQC regulations including employment history and references, DBS, Occupational Health, Right to Work and professional registration checks.
  • Ensure SHS is compliant with Home Office guidance when employing overseas nationals including the EU settlement scheme.
  • Respond to recruitment enquiries in a professional and friendly manner, providing information for both internal and external customers and referring complex enquiries onto the HR Advisor or Manager as appropriate.
  • Ensuring electronic records are updated and personal information recorded accurately.
  • Keeping in contact with candidates and building relationships to support them through the recruitment process.
  • Check all recruitment literature and adverts for compliance with discrimination legislation and best practice.
  • Advising managers on best practice for selection and assessment.
  • Issuing offer letters and employment contracts ensuring information is accurate. Also sending other correspondence to candidates, ensuring information is accurate and of a professional standard.
  • Contribute to the implementation of a new electronic recruitment system across the organisation by providing training and guidance to Recruiting Managers and supporting with development of the system.
  • Work independently, managing own time and caseload and planning work appropriately to ensure that deadlines are met. Taking a flexible approach to activities and re-prioritising regularly.
  • Consistently hit KPIs and deliver an efficient service to clients, problem solving and using initiative to resolve any problems.
  • Arranging and supporting recruitment events including open days, careers fairs and intake days.
  • Cover for colleagues during periods of absence to ensure smooth running of the HR department, work as part of a team to address peaks of workload and support HR activity.
  • Support with other projects as assigned by the HR Advisors, HR Manager or Director of HR.
  • Assume responsibility for personal continuous professional development and keeping up to date with relevant policies, procedures and legislation, being aware of any changes. Attend meetings, conferences, workshops and courses as appropriate.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • English & Maths GCSE or equivalent (A*-C grade or equivalent)
  • CIPD Foundation Level 3 (or working towards) or equivalent experience / qualifications

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • Excellent organisational skills and prioritisation skills
  • Able to communicate clearly and with confidence to a range of audiences orally and in writing
  • Effective IT skills, proficient with Microsoft Office and recruitment software
  • Building and fostering multiple and numerous relationships, up to and including Senior Management
  • Working to deadlines and KPIs
  • Knowledge of recruitment processes and policy

Desirable

  • Knowledge of challenges and pressures affecting NHS workforce

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of providing Recruitment/HR administrative support to managers and employees
  • Experience of handling sensitive and confidential information including awareness of Data Protection/GDPR issues

Desirable

  • Experience of working in the NHS
