This role is a fantastic opportunity for somebody with a clinical background to join the CNWL Recovery & Wellbeing College. The College opened in 2012 and has a wealth of experience of co-producing and co-delivering a range of mental health and wellbeing courses across CNWL. The College is also a member of the International Recovery Colleges Network and often hosts international visits as well as sharing best practice.

It’s an exciting time to be joining the Recovery & Wellbeing College as it has recently undergone a review in order to reflect on the past 10 years and consider how it positions itself in the new Health and Care model. There are a number of recommendations which the manager of the College will be responsible for implementing in partnership with a range of key stakeholders.

We are looking for a highly motivated mental health professional who has extensive experience working in recovery, wellbeing, social inclusion, co-production and partnership working. The successful candidate will have project management experience and will be excited to drive forward the development of the R&W College with stakeholders; taking a strategic overview and ensuring developments are in line with local and national changes.

You will be joining a well-established, supportive and friendly team who between them have a huge amount of lived experience as peers and practitioners as well as a strong admin team.

The post holder will be responsible for the management of the Trustwide Recovery & Wellbeing College through a hub and spoke model based around internal, external and community partnerships. The key emphasis needs to be on providing a high quality, responsive service, delivering a range of co-produced recovery focused courses and workshops for service users, staff, relatives, friends and carers across the trust.

The main duties of the role are:
To work closely with colleagues and stakeholders to promote, develop and embed the principles of recovery oriented practice and co-production across the organisation

To support the Head of Employment, Volunteer and Recovery & Wellbeing College to align and balance the R&W College with the People Plan Priorities.

To work in partnership with the R&W College Deputy Manager and College’s Advanced Lived Educators to ensure modelling of co-production throughout college leadership team

To work alongside the Trustwide LXP & Peer Support Lead to develop learning and development opportunities for our lived experience workforce and R&W College

To ensure the staff of the College demonstrate the value of the service through positively promoting it’s offer through the collection and collation of data

  • Overall responsibility for the day to day operational management and leadership of the R&W College; supporting the deputy manager to hold day to day responsibility as appropriate and liaising with the Head of Employment, Volunteer and Recovery & Wellbeing College as necessary.
  • To drive forward the development of the R&W College in collaboration with the Head of Employment, Volunteer and Recovery & Wellbeing College; taking a strategic overview, developing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders and ensuring development is in line with national and local changes
  • Monitor R&W College capacity to ensure it is responsive to the changing needs of the organisation and stakeholders, developing strategies and innovative solutions to keep waiting lists to a minimum, where possible
  • Lead developments in relation to remote learning, expanding the e-learning offer of the R&W College and ensuring the expansion of remote learning considers the barriers of digital inclusion and that the learning experience is enhanced for all students.
  • Give direction to the development and review of training support materials for new workshops and courses as well as giving support and direction to the R&W College trainers.
  • Support the deputy manager to monitor and ensure student learning support needs are met; and that accessibility to the R&W College is consistently and routinely considered and improved
  • Support the deputy manager to monitor the content of workshops and courses ensuring they reflect innovative and current practice, comprise a range of perspectives and are informative and culturally sensitive
  • Ensure the team and associate trainers comply with the R&W College quality assurance and CPD Standards framework
  • Raise awareness of recovery language with all students and stakeholders by modelling positive, strength based , non-discriminatory, non-jargon, non-medicalised language in all areas of work.
  • Ensure all aspects of the service delivery are underpinned by the principles of coproduction and personal recovery
  • To ensure trainers are supported to deliver a range of high quality, recovery focused courses and workshops whilst sensitivity managing often complex dynamics within the classroom
  • To provide consultation, guidance and support to the R&W College deputy manager to ensure the administration team operate effectively
  • To deputise in the absence of the Head of Employment, Volunteering and Recovery & Wellbeing College as necessary
  • To ensure consideration is given to the recruitment of staff from a range of diverse background reflecting the population CNWL serves
  • To have responsibility of the electronic staff roster and financial procurement systems with the deputy manager
  • With the deputy manager, to ensure the curriculum lead and administration coordinator structure timetable progress meetings and coordinate the R&W College timetable in a timely manner, which includes negotiation with Spoke leads and trainers; and the securing of venues
  • To develop and implement, in accordance with Trust Guidelines, a system of gathering, recording and analysing statistical information in relation to training activity that demonstrate the value of the R&W College
  • To have responsibility for the service’s annual reports and business plan
  • To lead regular and thorough service reviews ensuring the service develops in line with national agendas and new initiatives
  • To consider and make decisions with regards to the eligibility of students and any safeguarding issues, consulting and liaising with the Head of Employment, Volunteer and Recovery & Wellbeing College as necessary
  • To lead and actively participate in local and Trust wide meetings
  • To work flexibly, including out of hours and covering colleagues’ absence if required in all areas of the college
