Job summary
An exciting opportunity for an individual to work at one of the RAF’s busiest Stations. RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire is the hub of UK Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance (ISTAR) and the main operating base for airborne intelligence aircraft and systems. The RAF Waddington Records Manager (RM) will join the Station Knowledge and Information Manager (KIM), in supporting the Station Information Asset Owner (IAO) and Senior Information Officers (SIO) to be the focal point for Records Management at RAF Waddington. This focus will enable efficient and effective storage and exploitation of information.
As part of RAF Waddington, a constantly evolving, fast paced working environment you will have the exciting opportunity to join a small but hardworking team that is responsible for delivering Knowledge and Information Management, and Data Protection collaboratively engages with customers and other partners face to face, by phone, and online.

Job description
The RAF Waddington RM will be accountable for Electronic and Paper Records governance within RAF Waddington. The position supports information lifecycle management at RAF Waddington, in accordance with the Law, policy and guidance. The RM will be part of the wider Information Management Team and the RAF Information Policy Division who will provide the additional necessary expertise when required.
The RM encompasses the Deputy Local Data Protection Advisor role, ensuring the Station is compliant with the Data Protection Act 2018, Government Data Protection Regulations, Defence and RAF Policy.
The key responsibilities associated with the role are:
Supporting the KIM in executing the Unit Information Management Plan and Directive.- Acting as the Subject Matter Expert providing management and administration on all aspects of Records Management.
- Maintaining familiarity with Defence IM policy and protocols and ensure MOD policy, legal/regulatory requirements and department instructions for Records Management are applied at RAF Waddington.
- Provision of advice and guidance on the application of data protection legislation.
- Support RAF Waddington activities in response to Subject Access Requests (SAR’s).
Person specification
We are looking for a motivated individual who will need to be flexible and adaptable, work well in a small team and be able to act on their own initiative, quickly develop good working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders; perform effectively to deadlines, maintaining focus in challenging situations and adapting to find solutions that meet needs of stakeholder.
During the recruitment process, the applicant will be required to demonstrate an understanding of Information Management, GDPR and DPA 2018. The role requires well-developed IT Skills (Microsoft Office 365 Products).
The successful candidate in post will undertake essential MOD/Civil Service training.
