We have a vacancy for a highly motivated GP receptionist/call handler who is patient focused to help us provide safe and efficient services.
This role can be both challenging and rewarding. A positive nature and resilience are essential for our team in dealing with patients efficiently and professionally. Our team must be IT literate, reliable and competent administrators who can assist with the smooth running of patient facing and back office services. We are seeking a well organised individual who is kind, has empathy and loves helping people.
A large part of the role involves dealing with patients via telephone and in person therefore previous experience in a patient/customer facing role would be a distinct advantage.

Applicants should be aware that you will be part of the reception team, working on a rota basis between the core hours of 07.45am-18.30pm. You must be available to work 'late' shifts until 6:30pm. The reception team members are experienced and will be supportive to training and development to ensure that you are fully ready to speak to patients on the telephone or who come in to collect prescriptions.

The key role of the Receptionist/Administrator is to effectively contribute to the Practice team by assisting the clinical team in the provision of services to patients by facilitating access and undertaking various administrative & support duties in an organised, efficient, timely and courteous manner.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES
- Answer the telephone in line with Practice telephone protocol.
- Make appointments and generally attend to patients requests in a prompt, professional and courteous manner.
- Give information to patients clearly, taking into account their individual needs and relay messages accurately to appropriate practice staff.
- Prioritise the reception workload, dealing accurately with all administrative tasks.
- Assist with the prescribing process and the issue of all acute and repeat prescription requests within practice timescales, following the prescribing protocol.
- Extract relevant prescribing/administrative information from clinical correspondence and update individual patient computer records accordingly.
- Undertake further training and development as necessary.
- Be aware of the practice confidentiality and communication policies and maintain strict confidentiality/effective communication at all times.
- Keep reception/administrative office areas tidy and be aware of and ensure health and safety regulations are maintained.
- Undertake filing, shredding and photocopying as appropriate.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties requested of you
- Deputise for administrative functions, in absence of colleagues.
- Work with other team members to ensure deadlines are met.
- You must be able to travel to both surgery sites
