An NHS GP surgery in the Cambridge area are looking for an Emis Web trained Medical Receptionist to join their growing team.
Current vacancies:
27 hours: 7:45/8am - 18:00 Mon/Weds/Fri
36 hours: 7:45/8am - 18:00 Tues/Weds/Thurs/Fri
Computer literacy essential.
EMIS experience desirable. Previous applicants need not apply.
The ideal GP Receptionist will:
* Be trained in using Emis Web (absolutely essential)
* Have at least 6 months recent experience working in a NHS GP surgery as a receptionist
* Be happy to undergo a DBS check or have a DBS certificate dated within a year
Main duties of the job:
- You will be responsible for helping patients to see the appropriate clinician. This will involve understanding the patient needs, having knowledge of the practice and local service options and advising the patient accordingly.
- Process new patient registrations, prescription requests, action tasks etc
- Monitor several email addresses to process in coming requests and/or clinical documents
- Provide IT support for the clinical team and escalate issues to the appropriate service / person
- Excellent communication skills are essential as you will often be dealing with patients who have communication issues or are simply unwell and need help. This will be both face to face and telephone calls.
- A person who is calm, works well under pressure and is empathetic would be well suited to this role.
- A flexible approach to work, multi-tasking and managing a fluctuating workload is essential.
Overview of the organisation:
The practice is made up of receptionists, administrators, GPs, Nurses, Advanced Care Practitioners, Pharmacists and Health Care Assistants.
We are based at Fishers Lane in Cherry Hinton and Seymour Street in Cambridge and we look after approximately 12,000 patients. You will be expected to work at both locations.
We have great inter-team relationships, which are fostered by all our team who are friendly and approachable.
Individuals also have more formal support through their team leaders and team meetings. The team leaders form part of the management structure ensuring all voices are heard in practice operations and development.
Pay is dependent on experience
