About us
Ashley Centre Surgery is a busy GP Practice based in Epsom town centre with a list of 10,000+ patients. In 2021 we moved into a brand new state-of-the-art surgery.
We are looking for an enthusiastic 'people person' to join this busy GP practice as a Medical Receptionist.
As first point of contact for our patients, our receptionists are responsible for answering phones, responding to on-line enquiries, greeting patients and scheduling appointments. The successful person must be able to communicate well, not just in person but on the phone and in writing, be pleasant, patient and courteous, but above all be empathetic to the needs of our patients.
You will need to be comfortable with the use of IT. Experience interacting with a diverse patient population and knowledge of medical terminology would be an advantage, but is not essential as full training will be provided.
Responsibilities:
- Providing an effective and efficient reception service to patients and visitors to the practice
- Dealing with general enquiries; either in person, on the phone or in writing.
- Processing new and follow-up appointment requests and sign-posting to other health care services as appropriate
- Ensuring that all necessary information is accurately entered into computer and/or medical records
- Providing general administrative support to the practice
- Maintaining confidentiality in respect of the records of patients, carers, colleagues, other health care workers and the business generally
- Maintaining your own and others health, safety and security by following all practice policies and procedures
- Participating in any training provided or facilitated by the practice
- Applying practice policies, procedures, standards and guidance
Our reception team work a variable shift pattern between 7am and 7pm. Early shift 7am to 2pm or late shift 12 noon to 7pm.
Disclosure and Barring Service Check
A Disclosure and Barring Service check and disclosure will be required before appointment for all posts with access to children or vulnerable adults or where the post holder has access to patient information.
