Applications are invited from exceptional individuals to work within the NIHR Clinical Research Facility (CRF) at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital (RHH) and the Northern General Hospital (NGH).
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the reception areas across both Sites and should have experience of working within a busy office/ reception environment, educated to GCSE standard/or equivalent Grade A - C in English and Maths and NVQ3 or equivalent in a related field. You must also have experience of using Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
The successful candidate must also be able to work under pressure and will need a methodical /organised approach to working. You should possess effective communication skills both written/verbal and have experience of prioritising workload effectively and working to tight deadlines.
The duties will be many/varied and will include providing a comprehensive quality administrative service, providing a friendly and welcoming reception for a busy outpatient area, at what is the heart of our department. You will also be assisting the Operations Team with ad-hoc small projects that provide service improvements for patient benefit, as well as assisting in supervising members of the Reception Team, including sickness management/ appraisals.

- Responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the reception area across both the Royal Hallamshire Hospital and Northern General Hospital sites.
- To provide a comprehensive reception service to research participants within the Clinical Research Facility.
- To provide a high quality and efficient reception service to support clinical and academic colleagues, research sisters and support workers.
- To collate data from the CRF’s booking and scheduling system for informing CRF data/statistics as required.
- To assist the Service Co-ordinator and Operations Team with ad-hoc small projects that provide service improvements for patient benefit.
- To assist in managing members of the Reception Team, including sickness management and appraisals.
- Support senior members of the administration team.
- To ensure colleagues across all sites are familiar with the unit’s systems and processes.
- To ensure patient case notes are available for individual research studies from a number of locations, ie medical records, medical secretaries etc.
The NIHR Sheffield Clinical Research Facility (CRF) is a joint venture between the University of Sheffield and Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Use of the facility is available to all clinical researchers and provides a specialist environment for the conduct of high-quality clinical research.
The CRF staff, both clinical and non-clinical, work with investigators to ensure research carried out in the CRF is of the highest possible standard and adheres to Research Governance and the Regulatory Framework.
The CRF supports a wide and increasing portfolio of studies across a breadth of clinical specialities. It provides an excellent environment to develop research skills and provides an education and development programme for clinical researchers. The CRF has recently been awarded an NIHR grant to further develop Experimental Medicine in South Yorkshire.
