Quotient is recruiting for a Laboratory Technician to join the R&D team based in site near Penicuik (EH26 0BF). The role is a temporary position (15 months FTC) working flexible working hours. The primary function of this role is to provide a range of laboratory-based support duties to the R&D department of Quotient. There will also be involvement in assisting the scientists in more specialised tasks relating to the MosaiQ project.

JOB DESCRIPTION
The main responsibilities will include:

• Ensuring all equipment within the laboratories is calibrated and monitored.
• Preparing reagents and solutions as requested.
• Cleaning and preparation of lab ware and equipment
• Responsible for the management of internal stocks of reagents, chemicals and consumables.
• Carrying out routine sampling as required by departmental procedures.
• Place internal orders and monitor/ record receipt of goods.
• Participate in ‘in-house’ programme of continuous training and assessment.
• Following training, support the MosaiQ project by carrying out technical tasks using specialised equipment
• Communicate and liaise with managers and staff within Quotient to ensure effective delivery of agreed objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & BEHAVIOURS REQUIRED

• HNC or HND in a Science based subject and/or appropriate experience in a lab-based environment.
• Good attention to detail and communication skills.
