Receptionist/Administration Assistant
About us
Harbourside Health Centre is a small but busy GP Surgery with two practices located within SA1 and Winch Wen in Swansea .
- We are looking for enthusiastic candidates to join our friendly team of Receptionists and Administrators.
- All new positions have a 6-month probationary period after which time permanent employment would be confirmed subject to satisfactory performance.
The role involves:-
· To assist the GPs in the provision of the service to patients by facilitating access to the doctor in an organised, efficient and caring manner.
· To provide efficient and organised administrative support in reception in line with practice requirements and guidelines.
. Previous employment in a medical or clinic reception would be advantageous.
It is essential that the candidate can demonstrate a willingness to learn and integrate quickly into a new role and busy environment.
MAIN DUTIES:
1. Ensuring the correct patient records are available for all surgery sessions.
2. Provide reception desk duties as required.
3. Deal with any telephone enquiries in a respectful and friendly manner, ensuring correct details are recorded and forwarded to relevant personnel.
4. Maintain an appointments register.
5. Relay messages and home visits to appropriate staff/GPs.
6. Provide repeat prescriptions on request.
7. Maintain an accurate filing system.
Essential Skills:
· Willingness to undertake further training.
· Pleasant and outgoing manner.
· Ability to work in a team environment.

· Alfa/numerical skills.

Overview of the organisation
Harbourside Health Centre is in the new SA1 Development in the Waterfront & Docklands Area.
The Surgery is open from 8.00am to 6.30pm Monday to Friday.
The surgery provides a range of services under the General Medical Services contract such as child health and immunisation services, family planning, contraception, sexual health services, asthma and COPD, hypertensive, heart failure, diabetic care, maternity services, wound care and women's health including cervical smears.
The practice is an established GP training centre provide training for University Medical Students and GP Trainees.
The practice team currently consists of GP Partner, 3 salaried GPs, 1 Advanced Nurse Practitioner, 2 practice nurses, 1 health care support worker. The practice has 8 receptionists, 2 senior receptionists, with 7 admin staff and a Practice Manager.
The Practice offers membership of the NHS Pension Scheme.
Please note that the Practice does not allow members of staff to be patients.
