COMPANY OVERVIEW
KKR & Co. Inc., together with its subsidiaries, is a leading global investment firm that offers alternative asset management and capital markets and insurance solutions. KKR aims to generate attractive investment returns by following a patient and disciplined investment approach, employing world-class people, and supporting growth in its portfolio companies and communities. KKR sponsors investment funds that invest in private equity, credit and real assets and has strategic partners that manage hedge funds. KKR’s insurance subsidiaries offer retirement, life and reinsurance products under the management of The Global Atlantic Financial Group.
About KKR Real Estate
KKR’s Real Estate business’ mandate is to make control or influence investments and transactions across the capital structure. Previously, it pursued real estate opportunities through its private equity strategy. In 2011, KKR made a decision to build a high-quality, dedicated real estate investment team led by Ralph Rosenberg, and as of September 30, 2022, the team consists globally of 165+ dedicated investment and asset management professionals who leverage resources throughout KKR. Access to KKR Private Equity, KKR Credit, KKR Capital Markets, the KKR Global Institute, KKR Global Macro and Asset Allocation, and KKR Public Affairs, provides far greater resources to both develop point-in-time investment themes and to source, analyze and execute real estate transactions. As of September 30, 2022, KKR Real Estate has $64+ billion of AUM globally.
Investment Approach
The KKR Real Estate Private Equity team takes a thematic approach to real estate investing. The private equity strategy is focused on making investments in real estate assets or companies by investing in opportunities that (i) stand to benefit from outsized industry or demographic growth, (ii) present the ability to create value through operational or physical improvements, or, (iii) have sub-optimal capital structures. Given the flexibility of KKR Real Estate’s capital, its investments and transactions can take several forms: (i) Asset Level Recaps and Repositionings, (ii) Distressed Investments, (iii) Platform Build Ups, (iv) Corporate Acquisitions, and, (v) Structured Credit Investments.
