A vacancy has arisen for a Post Share opportunity in the Business Rates Team. Cardiff Council annually collects around £170m in business rates from around 13,000 businesses in Cardiff. The team also collects a Business Improvement District levy from businesses based in and around the City Centre.
About the job
This is a senior post in the Business Rates Team. This is a small team which is based in County Hall. Hybrid working is available but you will be expected to attend the office at least one day per week. You will be expected to attend magistrates’ court hearings several times each year.
The post holder will be expected to ensure that the billing database is accurate and balances to the Valuation List. You will assess liability to pay rates and assist with the prompt issue of bills and the collection of the rates due.
What We Are Looking For From You
You should have experience of working in a local taxation environment and candidates must demonstrate an organised and methodical approach to work. You should have experience of working in a busy, customer facing role and be confident in engaging with customers.
Effective interpersonal skills are essential due to the range of individuals and organisations that you will interact with.
Additional information
This post is part time and will work 18.5 hours per week. The pro-rata salary is £13,926 per annum.
