We are looking for an individual with strong practical skills to complement our existing countryside team in Pembrokeshire.
This 2-year fixed-term position is a fantastic opportunity to join our passionate and diverse team working in one of the nation’s most stunning locations. Come rain or shine, your love of the outdoors will inspire others as you strive to ensure that landscapes are beautifully presented and continue to take our visitors’ breath away.
You will be joining an experienced team and your work will contribute to all aspects of our conservation, visitor and estate work across the county.

What it's like to work here:National Trust looks after 5,000ha of the most naturally spectacular and culturally rich landscapes in Pembrokeshire, including, windswept coastal farms, the storm crashed cliffs of St David’s Peninsula and Stackpole Head, Gupton Farm and the adjacent wetland of Castlemartin Corse, the ancient woodlands along the river Cleddau and our large, wooded estates at Colby and Stackpole and some of the best beaches in Wales.
Our countryside team plays an active role in the conservation management of the county. We have our own herd of Welsh Black cattle and Welsh Mountain ponies that we use to graze our most important places, alongside our tenant farmers. We also work closely with our conservation partners in Natural Resources Wales (NRW), Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Authority (PCNPA), the Wildlife Trust of South and West Wales (WTSWW) and Pembrokeshire County Council (PCC) to have influence beyond our boundaries.

You'll be joining a small team of rangers, working alongside them carrying out a wide range of practical tasks such as, forestry, conservation grazing, and estate maintenance.
You'll be working across all our places in Pembrokeshire in habitats that include coastal farms, mires and heaths, species-rich grasslands, wetlands and ancient woodlands.
You'll be using a range of tools and equipment from drills and hammers, through brush cutters and chainsaws, to tractors and mowers (depending on your skills, experience, and interests)

You’ll need to;
- Deliver practical conservation work to protect and enhance the conservation status of the property
- Demonstrate a passion for nature, heritage and the outdoors
- Able to engage with visitors to ensure they understand the value of your work

- Be enthusiastic with a willingness to learn
- Be an excellent team player
- Be able to work safely, with risk assessments and compliance with safety procedures
- Experience in a land, access and conservation management
- Experience in and working in a similar outdoor setting
- Competence with machinery and equipment as well as having the relevant certificates required
- A full UK driving licence
