Eastern Airways operates scheduled and charter flights around the United Kingdom and Europe.
We are recruiting for Ramp Agents to join our team at Sumburgh Airport. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring gold standard ground handling operations. A Ramp Agent should have a high level of understanding around health and safety practises, be proactive, and actively report and address any issues quickly and accurately.
The role of a Ramp Agent includes the following tasks, however the below is not exhaustive and reasonable responsibilities not listed below will also be required to be carried out, with training and support provided where necessary.
- Load and unload baggage, cargo, and mail in a safe and secure manner.
- Ensure accurate routing and sorting of baggage to correct aircraft.
- Guide the aircraft during arrival and departure using hand signals and communication devices.
- Assist in the loading and unloading of passenger baggage, cargo, and equipment.
- Safely operate ground support equipment
- Maintain the general housekeeping of the ramp areas, including removing abandoned items and litter.
- Carry out routine checks and report any issues to the health and safety department.
- Aid passengers where required with excellent customer service skills.
To be successful, you must be able to:
- Behave in a professional manner, show empathy, and have excellent communication skills when interacting with all passengers and crew members.
- Demonstrate teamwork and an ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Be able to remain calm under pressure, and make practical decisions in an environment where situations may arise suddenly.
- The ability to assess weather conditions, and make any potential risks or challenges known.
- Prior experience of ramp operations and ground handling procedures would be an advantage but not essential.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
Salary: £27,480 per annum
This role is a fulltime permanent position, but includes weekend work on a rota basis.
