Job description
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, forward thinking, flexible, motivated Radiotherapy Bookings Officer, ideally with experience of working in a customer/patient focused environment, to provide a full and comprehensive service to the Radiotherapy Department in relation to radiotherapy bookings, ensuring that all patients’ appointments are booked within national guidelines and in accordance with radiotherapy procedures and work instructions. The successful applicant will be required to provide a clerical service in relation to patient bookings and to work part of the day on the radiotherapy reception desk in support of the Therapeutic Radiographers involved with patient care. Applicants must be able to work to a high standard, act under their own initiative under guidelines, have an aptitude for problem solving and demonstrate good organisational, administration and communication skills. They will be keen to join our dedicated, patient focussed, friendly team of Radiographers who provide a high quality service.
Booking Radiotherapy appointments.
To be responsible for the quality of data entered onto the department and Trust computer systems.
To communicate with patients and their carers by letter, telephone and in person to arrange Radiotherapy appointments. This should be timely, and in a professional, polite and helpful manner.
Provide a first line of contact for patients who may be distressed, difficult or anxious and who may not be aware of their suspected cancer diagnosis. Address concerns or complaints sympathetically, resolving the issue where possible or referring the patient on to the Radiotherapy Service Manager or a Superintendent Radiographer.
Organise transport for Patients.
Taking and communicating messages in a professional, polite and helpful manner.
Sensitively inform and update patients of situations within the Radiotherapy Department that may lead to the cancellation or postponement of their Radiotherapy appointment and cancel patients as necessary. Ensure a new appointment is negotiated with the patient as required.
Provide hands on training and communicate knowledge and expertise of the Radiotherapy bookings role to new members of staff and students, to enable them to have an overview of Radiotherapy bookings and depending on job role to enable them to become Radiotherapy Bookings Officers. This will include providing support on the use of all Hospital IT systems.
