Job description
Band 5 Developmental Oncology CNS
To support the growing demand for our oncology services and support expansion within our clinical nurse specialist team we are looking to recruit highly motivated registered nurses with an interest in oncology.
This is a great opportunity for someone who is keen to develop their skills within Oncology in a developmental capacity initially at band 5. Following a supported competency-based programme this would develop into a band 6 post (maximum time of 3 years).
We are seeking motivated, proactive nurses with a vision and maturity to support this client group at their most vulnerable with the living with and beyond cancer programme. During your first year you will be expected to complete a University Accredited SACT (systemic anti-cancer therapy) course and complete the SACT passport and OSCEs. In the second year you will be supported to complete the Health Assessment module as a pre-requisite to undertaking V300 non-medical prescribing course in year three. This will allow you to support experienced clinicians making multi professional decisions and undertake unsupervised nurse led clinics.
You must be an RN with current NMC registration and a willingness to undertake the training as listed above. Previous Oncology/Haematology experience is desirable, but not essential. SACT competence would be advantageous but is not essential.
The developmental cancer CNS role is a key worker role, and the successful individuals would ideally be a registered nurse with a minimum of 12 months experience within an acute hospital setting and/or a cancer site area.
