Job description
The post is based in the MR Department at the Manchester Royal Infirmary. This is a large and busy department undertaking a wide range of examinations and this role provides the opportunity to work in a state-of-the-art environment together with a friendly and dedicated group of staff. You will become a valued member of the team and work closely with the MR Radiographers, Registrars and Consultants but also with the wider multidisciplinary team.
The hours for this post are 37.5 hours over 3 days Monday- Sunday. The rota pattern takes the form of 3 x 12.5 hour or 3 x 11.5 hour days. To make the hours up to 37.5 you will be expected to work accrued hours which equates to 6 additional 12.5 hrs shifts each year. The position starts at Band 2 unless previous experience is applicable. Those successful in post will be uplifted to Band 3 After training and successful assessment of competencies. The Manchester Royal Infirmary is a regional referral centre for many specialties and the range and complexities of the examinations carried out reflect this. You will be supporting the clinical staff in carrying out their duties.
Previous experience in a healthcare environment is desirable. You will assist in the care of the patients during their visit to the department and also clinical staff during procedures. You will prepare the patients for their examination and ensure the rooms are ready prior to and post procedure along with other departmental duties to support the service. You must have a good general level of education. You need to be able to work in a team environment and be able to work under pressure. You will need to be a good communicator as you will have to liaise with both clinical and non-clinical staff. You should also have good telephone skills as you must be able to take messages accurately to allow the MR Radiographers to make decisions regarding prioritisation of workload.
