Job description
We are looking for enthusiastic and highly motivated Band 5 Radiographers to join our patient centered team of friendly Radiology staff at Royal Glamorgan Hospital. Applications from Radiographers qualifying summer 2023 are welcomed.
The department has four general rooms, two CT scanners, two MRI scanners, ultrasound, mammography, nuclear medicine and interventional departments. We have recently replaced all our CR equipment within the hospital and at our satellite sites with new Samsung DR units.
Royal Glamorgan Hospital has a major accident and emergency unit and is a regional diagnostic hub with a significant role in early diagnostics and ambulatory care. You will be involved in delivering the single cancer pathway where GP CXR’s are hot reported providing the patient their results while they are in the department. This significantly reduces the referral to treatment time for the patient.
Newly qualified band 5 Radiographer’s complete a three month preceptorship program to support the transition from student to Radiographer.
Continuing Professional Development is actively encouraged together with participation in our Core Audit Programme.
Applicants must possess a BSc (Hon)/ DCR (R) in Diagnostic Radiography and have current HCPC registration at their start date.
The successful applicant will work in all aspects of General Radiography including x-ray, fluoroscopy, theatre and mobiles, dental imaging and will also perform non-contrast CT studies.
The post holder will be required to work without direct supervision but will report to senior/Superintendent Radiographer within the department. They will adhere to Radiology guidelines and operating procedures.
You will participate in the Radiology Directorate shift system which involves a mix of 12 hour day and night duties and 7.5 hour shifts. This post is based at Royal Glamorgan Hospital and you will rotate to our satellite sites, Ysbyty Cwm Rhondda and Dewi Sant Hospital both of which have GP and outpatient services along with a busy minor injuries unit in Ysbyty Cwm Rhondda. You may also be required to attend other sites within Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board.
Good communication skills are essential to ensure an effective and safe service to the patients in our care. The successful candidate will be required to liaise with staff across the Health Board.
