Metricell is offering exciting opportunities for motivated staff to join its team as radio planning engineers. You will be working within one of the UK’s leading mobile networks at locations in the North of England or Scotland. Supported by Metricell HQ you will be engaged with both the high level and detailed planning of 5GNR and 4G networks throughout the country.
Detailed Responsibilities include:
- Assisting with the development and maintenance of Area Radio Plans for 2G/3G/4G/5G networks using radio planning and GIS Tools
- To liaise closely with the Implementation team, to create a deliverable and cost effective plan.
- To apply knowledge of existing cell performance to directly influence the development of the planned network.
- To undertake field work including site visits, candidate assessment, and detailed site design and approval
- These job roles may be based at various locations in the UK and will involve travel throughout the locality
Expected Qualifications and Experience:
- Full UK or EU Driving licence is essential
- Previous experience of LTE and WCDMA Cell planning essential.
- Experience of using planning and work flow tools including;
- Atoll, Mapinfo, Omnix/EvenFlow, ProOptima, or other Site Data build tools is essential
- Interest in learning about and contributing to advanced geospatial analytics using Metricell technology and tools
- A sound understanding of interference containment and ideal cell placement is essential
- The ability to adjust the theoretical “best placement” of cells, with respect to the real environment resulting in a practical effective design is essential
- BSc (Eng) or MSc. Electronics, Electrical Engineering or equivalent with a concentration or specialization evident in Communications is preferred
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in wireless radio network planning is essential. 3 years + is preferred.
- Knowledge of RF propagation modelling, radio coverage planning, traffic engineering, and RF system technology is essential. Knowledge of IP networking, IT and software skills, and transmission engineering would be an advantage.
- A good knowledge of written and spoken English is required.
