About this role

We are responsible for ensuring that our customers have mobile network coverage, capacity and services where they need it, without incurring unnecessary costs. We achieve this by monitoring and understanding our mobile radio access network, programmes of work, strategic requirements, designs, and operational requirements then planning network rollout and modification for optimal cost/benefit/customer experience. BT Networks has been evolving more into the data driven mindset necessary to keep us ahead of the competition - and the RCP Specialist is centre to this.

You'll have the following responsibilities

  • Act as a technical expert, working with other teams across the business and with other companies, and providing technical support and guidance to other team members
  • Radio Coverage planning for BT Network (2G, 3G, 4G, 5G and other resources)
  • Develop and continually improve processes and methodologies used within the team.
  • Clearly present the results of analysis to support senior management in strategic decision making.
  • Providing coverage impact assessment analysis using Asset and ATOL planning tools.
  • Supporting Internal customer queries in regards of coverage assessment for both stratigc programs, business opportunities or specific single queries.
  • Supporting the delivery of different BT programs such as Single Rural Network and ESN.
  • One of the main focus will be Supporting/building a Drone Network (Future Flights).
  • Reporting on the coverage improvements within BT Network for all technologies (2G, 4G, 5G).
  • Providing HO with BT planning Data on a regular bases.
  • Working closely with IoT team to deliver the technology where required from the business.
  • Supporting the business with new coverage opportunity evaluation.
  • Small Cell long term planning
  • Actual and forecasted Coverage Reporting across multiple technologies.
  • Governance around Coverage guideline and Radio emission compliance.

You'll have the following skills & experience

Mandatory:

  • Strong experience in the radio planning space.
  • Strong experience of using tools for radio planning analysis such as ATOLL/ASSETT with particular focus on Automatic Cell Planning module.
  • Experience in using visualisation tools sush as QGIS or ARCGIS for more complex data elaboration.
  • Experience with Coverage modelling for all technologies 2G/3G/4G/5G
  • Understanding of the complex interaction between coverage and capacity in the mobile radio access network.
  • Stakeholder management experience

Nice to have:

  • Experience in planning small cells
  • Good experience of mobile Radio antenna configurations
  • Significant knowledge and understanding of coverage management techniques and best practice
  • Experience in PCI/RSI planning
  • Experience with Radio network compliance (ICNIRP, GA drawings)
  • Experience with coding such as Python language or similar and GIS data analysis skills is a bonus
  • Time management skills and creative mind set
