We are looking for multiple roles to join an established multi-disciplinary R&D team based in the Southwest of England to work on technology developments, from initial concepts up to prototypes demonstrated in flight.

We have an opportunity for a R&D Engineer/Scientist to join our Aerospace team in Yeovil, who will be responsible for the designing prototypes and related components in order to verify various technologies as diverse as sensors, mechanical components, heat transfer and other components.
R&D Engineer/Scientist responsibilities
- Reduce the concepts for our engineers and scientists to actual real world designs either for test rigs or prototypes
- Prepare engineering drawings, design schemes and CAD models to acceptable standards from simple sketches/discussions for both prototype devices and test rigs to trial those prototypes
- Liaise with external and internal manufacturing resources to ensure components are available on a timely basis in line with project requirements
- Get best price/lead time for components
- Close collaboration with subject matter experts to establish requirements and other experts to verify design will meet particular requirements, e.g. stress, weight, thermal resistance etc
- Close collaboration with project manager and their support
- Liaise with adjacent departments to carry out risk assessments
- Prepare test and other documentation to convert project/technology requirements into test results
Qualifications
- B.Eng/BSc/M.Sc. in relevant engineering domain
- Mechanical design engineering experience
- Knowledge of appropriate CAD packages
- Insight into modern and sustainable technologies
Advantageous Experience
- Experience with manufacturing components using multiple processes
- Experience of aerospace industry practices and requirements
