Job description
We are currently recruiting a Quantity Surveyor to join our IT services division based in our Leeds office.
The Quantity Surveyor will provide commercial support including assisting in developing commercial strategy for specific projects by maintaining and maximising the profitability of the projects, through timely requests for payment, minimising of cost including sub-contractor, agreement of variations, securing of payments at the appropriate time and accurate reporting.
The successful candidate will have experience of Engineering / MEP / Services contracts.
Responsibilities
You will:
- Commercial Risk Identification by understanding of contract terms for projects and specific risks prior to any agreement of contract amendments and ensuring these are commercially mitigated during duration of the project.
- Applications for Payment / Valuations experience of preparing and submitting applications for payment or invoices with appropriate substantiation of CE’s / Variations with minimal supervision
- Subcontract Management In conjunction with Senior Quantity Surveyor (SQS) or Commercial Manager
- Demonstrates the capability to understand and operate the current cash flow and payment mechanics of a contract
- Liaising with relevant operational management to have a continual understanding as to status of projects with respect to; applications, certifications, payment received, timeliness of delivery, quality of delivery and tender allowances and be able to demonstrate that records are available under audit
- Final Account Settlement demonstrating negotiation skills to settle project account with Client at a level that does not negatively impact internally declared sales
- Be able to run small projects with some supervision and be able to support trainee Quantity Surveyor’s in their development, operating with minimal supervision

- IOSH Managing Safely
- CDM Awareness
- RICS
- Relevant experience in a commercial Quantity Surveyor role
