Thames Water (London & Surrounding Areas)

What you will be doing:

An opportunity has arisen for a Quantity Surveyor to join the team at Galliford Try.

You will work on our Thames Water Frameworks within our Environment Business, who are experienced in successfully delivering schemes of varying sizes, predominately to the Water Industry, across both Treatment Waste and Water schemes.

Ideally, you will be based in or around the London area and will have the opportunity to travel across multiple sites/projects in the Region.

As a Quantity Surveyor you will be an important part of the Framework Commercial team and will work closely with the Pre-Construction, Design and Delivery functions within the wider team, to manage the commercial administration, reporting and performance on a single large project or several smaller schemes.

Day-to-day, as Quantity Surveyor, you will be producing Subcontract documentation including negotiation of terms and conditions, prices, and programme and managing subcontract works packages including, interim assessments of the amount due and subsequent change management.

It will be your role to produce and issue all commercial notices, to both the Client and Subcontractors, as required by the form of contract, managing change in a timely manner in accordance with the form of contract, including the production and submission of Compensation Event Quotations.

Your role forms an essential link in the supply chain, liaising with operational and engineering staff to ensure site records are kept to the standard required. You’ll show flexibility, resilience, and the ability to influence and build relationships. Demonstrating strong ethical standards with openness and honesty.

You’ll play a pivotal role in weekly progress and risk reduction meetings, producing, submitting, and agreeing monthly applications, to the Client and presenting detailed monthly reports and Cost Value Reconciliation’s (CVR) and ‘Cost Plans’, tracking and forecasting expenditure and liabilities as required by the business unit or project.

About You:

Alongside your relevant degree and/or experience of working in a relevant Commercial environment, we’d like you to have experience of working on large single or multiple smaller schemes with solid knowledge of construction processes. A professional qualification such as MCIOB or MRICS, ideally Incorporated member or working towards full membership is desirable.

To be successful in the role, you’ll have an astute appreciation of standard forms of contract with strong IT skills including Excel, Word & Contractual and Cost Management Systems (CEMAR, Oracle).
