Summary:
This position has overall responsibility and primary contact for chart corrections issues related to scanned documents (including interfaced) within PennChart for all inpatient and ambulatory locations throughout Penn Medicine.
Responsibilities:
Respond to chart correction scan requests received through the chart correction notification process, phone calls and Athena tickets in a timely, professional and thorough manner. Provide timely feedback and follow up as necessary to user submitting the corrections as well as the user who created the error.- Perform active quality checking of scanned document accuracy by Penn Chart users utilizing the established document quality program to ensure the integrity of the record. Checking/validation is focused on the selection of the correct episode case serial number (CSN) and document type.
- Perform a thorough investigation to ensure the document is moved or deleted from/to the correct patient’s record.
- Produce trending reports to identify individuals/areas or departments where there is a high incidence of scanning errors. Provide end user re-training to areas throughout the health system that may have a high incidence of scanning errors.
- Works closely with the Enterprise Master Patient Index (EMPI) team when medical record number (MRN) merge issues arise related to document corrections. Communicate effectively with Penn Medicine Information Services department when additional assistance is needed regarding an issue with a scanned document. Contact and establish a direct line of communication with scanning vendor and follow up to ensure timely resolution of issues.
Education or Equivalent Experience:
Associate of Arts or Science (Required)- Preferably in Health Information Management or a related field
- H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
- 2+ years Previous work in a health care facility with knowledge of Health Information Management
