Based at our Luton manufacturing plant you’ll do just that. Established in 1993, GKN Aerospace in Luton is a world leader in commercial and military ice protection systems and transparencies. Offering a full range of capabilities; design, analysis, testing, certification and manufacture of electro-thermal ice protection, military fast jet canopies and flight deck windows to over 20 programmes including: Boeing 787, Dreamliner, Airbus A320, AgustaWestland, AW101, Eurofighter Typhoon and Lockheed, Martin F-22 Raptor. Our customers include Boeing, Airbus, Lockheed Martin, Bell Helicopters, Textron, BAE Systems, Pratt & Whitney, Leonardo. Our Luton site is home to 400+ employees and onsite facilities including onsite parking, canteen, vending machines and showers.
Job Summary
The Quality Management Systems (QMS) Engineer will be located at our Luton manufacturing site reporting to the Quality Management Systems Manager and supporting our Defence & Civil business lines. This is a 2 year fixed-term contract and the role may require flexibility to visit our other sites (as necessary) to standardise best practice principles.
The Quality Management Systems (QMS) Engineer will review the management systems and provide core support to the site leadership team in achieving a compliant and effective system in-line with regulatory, customer & company global requirements.
Job Responsibilities
- Maintain and improve the local QMS ensuring that it fulfils the requirements of the applicable regulations, industry / customer and company standards
- Identify risks to the QMS and drive continuous improvement activities
- Work with the wider team to ensure the QMS integrates with other management systems
- Lead/support the planning and implementation of new QMS systems, including stakeholder engagement
- Provide QMS training to the relevant areas
- Provide functional support for Quality Management and Information applications
- Support 3rd party audits as required
- Act as internal auditor to support the internal audit programme.

Essential:
- Significant experience gained from a Quality Systems role
- Strong facilitation and collaboration skills to support process improvement activities.
- Notable experience gained from a manufacturing environment
- Experience of working to ISO 9001
- Experience of Quality Management and Information applications
- Competency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Desirable:
- Experience of working to AS9100 / AS9110 requirements
- Experience of working to CAA Part 21G and/or CAA/EASA/FAA Part 145 regulations
- Internal or Lead Auditor experience
- Notable experience gained from an Aerospace manufacturing environment
