Superior Production LLC, a manufacturer of metal stampings, is part of a large privately owned holding company involved in various metal manufacturer process throughout the continental US. We provide Stamping and Machine services throughout the Midwest for a variety of customers.
With two plants located in Columbus, Ohio we service the automotive, agriculture, and heavy truck industries.
We are currently seeking a full-time Quality Engineer position to join our team. This position will report directly to the Director of Quality. Engineering majors are encouraged to apply.
SUMMARY
Tests and inspects products at various stages of production process and compiles and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain quality and reliability of products by performing the following duties. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Quality / Executive Group.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As a member of the Quality Department this position is accountable for the following: (Other duties may be assigned).
- Support of the company’s QS 9000 standard and procedures.
- Interprets engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or formulas in relationship to GD&T
- Be able to respond to customer quality issues using 8-D, 5-Why’s or other methodologies.
- Strong statistical abilities in supports quality requirements and dimensional analysis
- Skills at completing PPAP’s, PFEMA’s, Control Plans for submission to customers
- Strong CMM skills with the ability to program CMM’s using Open DMIS or Polyworks or other similar software platforms used with CMM and Scanners.
- Assist in die and stamping project management duties (APQP) and review of RFQ in relationship to quality and GD&T requirements.
- Strong skills in using attribute fixtures, part print analysis for quality requirement and developing inspection data plans.
- Manage operation of material testing lab and equipment.
- Strong computer skill with MS Office suite
- Other Duties as assigned by the Director of Quality and/or the Executive group.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Acts as the back-up for the Director of Quality in a supervisory role for the Department responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. This responsibility may include such responsibilities as training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; or at least five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
SOFTWARE SKILLS
Proficient in MS Office 365, Excel, Word, PowerPoint. CMM/Scanning programing in Open DMIS Polyworks and CATIA reader (CAD).
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to comprehend and apply principles of geometry, trigonometry, and advanced statistical theory to tooling, machining, and stamping activities. Ability to work with complex geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, and multiple customer formats of engineering specifications.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram forma and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
“Must be able to work in a fast-paced manufacturing facility, with mechanical and environmental hazards such as forklift and crane operation, and loud noise from manufacturing operations.
