- Develops and implements technical strategies and plans to maintain high performance and cost effectiveness, applying an understanding of industry best practices and trends;
- Works with IT and enterprise stakeholders to ensure alignment of the technical strategy/plan with overall IT and business strategies/plans;
- Builds customer relationships to promote collaboration, transparency, and customer satisfaction;
- Establishes metrics to drive accountability.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strategic vision, coupled with effective hands-on leadership. (S)he will be an outstanding communicator with strong executive presence, capable of describing the business impact and cost justification of initiatives, as well as the transformational potential of emerging solutions that could improve UVAH ’s operations and customer experience. (S)he will possess the following background:
- Knowledge and experience of large, complex environments
- Comprehensive management experience with responsibility for multiple service lines, with a proven ability to build, lead, and motivate an experienced and capable team.
- Considerable experience in the evaluation, development and implementation of clinical and business systems and technologies.
- Approves, coordinates and controls all architecture projects related to selection, acquisition, development and installation of major information systems.
- Recommends and implements solutions in support of business strategies and ensures the successful delivery of work with regards to quality of work, timeframe and budget of the project and effectiveness of training/change management activities.
- Participates in the planning, coordination, and review of new solutions and the work plans necessary to implement them.
- Provides input into the formulation of the overall IT strategy.
- Works closely with IT security and program management teams to ensure that architectural models conform to standards.
- Provide architecture ownership for implementation, management, support and daily operation of all mission-critical applications
- Develops and maintains system performance metrics
- Keeps abreast of industry trends through benchmarking, participation in professional associations, etc. in order to lead strategic business direction of the department.
- Supports and manages large, complex technical initiatives as needed.
- Manages system performance and availability to agreed standards.
- Ensures that the technical infrastructure is maintained in a fully functional mode and in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Master degree in Computer Science/ Information Technology/ Information Security or a related field, or equivalent experience and certifications.
Experience: 12+ years of progressively responsible technology leadership roles with a minimum of 5 years in a senior leadership capacity. 5+ years of proven experience in the health care industry. Experience leading large-scale deployment and optimization projects.
Licensure: Relevant vendor agnostic certifications such as the CPHIMS, PMP, COBIT are desired. Vendor-specific technical certifications are a plus, but not required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
