The Opportunity
At Leonardo, we have an opportunity for a Senior Supplier Quality Engineer to come and join our team.

We have 3 positions available, 2 of which are within our Radar and Advanced Targeting line of business, based in Edinburgh, and the 3rd is based in Southampton for our detectors line of business. We are flexible with actual location for the right candidate.
You will join our Supplier Quality Assurance team providing quality assurance and continuous improvement advice and support to multiple project areas of the business and the supply chain.

What you will do
What you will do:
- Work concurrently with engineering teams to understand current and future requirements, mainly in the Mechanical/Optics categories.
- Effective Failure Management to RCCA.
- Utilise your skillset to aid in failure/material reviews and investigations in the Supply Chain.
- Support capability assessments within the supply chain.
- Use your knowledge of the supply chain to support our Integrated Project Teams in supplier selection.
- New Product Introduction in the supply chain. You will work closely with a multi-functional team to try to avoid failures, issues and unnecessary costs.
- Perform, review and approve First Article Inspection reports.
- Support in our supplier visit 'Gateway' plans.
What we are looking for
We think you will need to have most of the following:
- A relevant qualification such as an engineering based degree, HND, BTECH, etc., or equivalent work experience in preferably a Mechanical or Optical setting.
- Ability to work independently and in teams with minimal need for supervision
- Practical experience working in a Quality / Project Assurance / Manufacturing discipline within a similar advanced manufacturing Industry
- Able to understand technical documentation such as technical drawings and international standards.
- Working knowledge of AS9100 / ISO 9001.
- Have or has the ability to obtain SC level of security clearance (UK national).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, critical thinking, and team-player skills
- Attention to detail
- Able to adhere to standards and operate under pressure
- Ability to travel both nationally and internationally if required
It would be nice if you had:
- Experience in First Article Activities.
- Familiarity with statistical analysis (SPC), and Good analytical skills
- Familiarity with using SAP (770)
- Working knowledge of Root Cause and Corrective Action analysis tools such as 5 Whys, 8D and FMEA
- Demonstrable knowledge of customer and supplier liaison both internal and external.
- Experience of quality auditing, to AS9100/ISO9001/DAOS including the Supply Chain.
