Alexander Steele Recruitment are delighted to be supporting a Manufacturing business to appoint a Quality Engineer for their site in Salford.
You will be responsible for driving product quality across departments, through reviews of quality issues and root cause analysis, refinement of our quality control checks and through prioritisation, investigation and resolution of quality and reliability issues seen in the field and in the service department.
Quality improvements will be achieved by analysing and improving the current processes alongside the introduction of new technologies and processes. They will also liaise with the Research and Development team on product technical issues, design for manufacture, and support new product introductions to the factory.
Reporting to the Quality & Technical Manager, this role offers the chance to join a growing business in a varied role with the opportunity to work autonomously on projects to drive improvements in the business.
Responsibilities
- Creation and maintenance of manufacturing & service aids
- Creation and maintenance of SOPs for manufacturing processes
- Maintenance of manufacturing data in ERP system
- Provide product training and support.
- Maintain online record of product quality issues, ensuring they’re regularly reviewed, prioritised and resolved efficiently and effectively.
- Maintain processes and documentation for our ISO9001 and ATEX certifications, with responsibility as our Deputy ATEX Authorised Representative
- Support the design of jigs, test fixtures, and tooling.
- Design and continuous improvement of final quality control checks to ensure our test procedures evolve based on issues seen in the field and efficiently verify product quality.
- Support capital investment projects in support of quality improvements
- Support NPI activities to the factory
Requirements
- Recognised engineering qualification in electronic or mechanical engineering (C&G, HNC, HND or BEng)
- Proven experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of electrical, electronic & mechanical systems and test equipment with ability to investigate issues and fault find.
- Experience within a quality focused role (18 months +)
- Demonstrable examples of implemented process/quality improvements
- Strong IT skills including MS Office, ERP, CAD

- £37,000 (potentially more DOE)
- Monday to Friday – 8am till 4:30pm (3:15pm finish on a Friday)
