West Yorkshire Trading Standards is offering opportunities for qualified and experienced Trading Standards Officers to join our existing team. We have a range of posts available within dedicated teams supporting regulatory compliance around food and feed, Primary Authority and weights and measures. Part of West Yorkshire Joint Services you would be working in a fast-paced organisation, based at Morley covering a population of 2.3 million people and serving the five District Councils of Bradford, Calderdale, Kirklees, Leeds and Wakefield.

Qualified Trading Standards Officer - Food and Feed Regulation Team

Job Ref: WYJS: 15-23

As a member of the Food and Feed Regulation team you will be responsible for policing the integrity of the food chain, investigating food/feed related fraud, supporting compliance in the industry through advice including primary authority, and tackling serious malpractice though investigations and legal proceedings.

You will need to hold a relevant qualification in line with the Food Law Code of Practice (the feed element of the TS qualification is not essential to be shortlisted for interview).

Qualified Trading Standards Officer - Weights and Measures

Job Ref: WYJS: 14-23

This role will primarily focus on enforcement work ensuring compliance of industrial weighing and measuring equipment used across a broad range of business types within industrial settings. In this role you will also take part in regional and national projects focused on legal metrology and investigations of non-compliance. This role will work closely alongside our Calibration Services team in supporting business - providing advice and guidance on legal requirements.

Qualified Trading Standards Officer - Business Growth and Regulation

Job Ref: WYJS: 13-23

As a member of the Business Growth and Regulation team you will be working with colleagues to provide regulatory services focussing on consumer product safety, age restricted sales, the car trade, and Primary Authority Partnerships. The post holder will spend a proportion of their time acting as Primary Authority Officer for major Primary Authority clients and will have a particular focus on consumer product safety work.

For all three roles we are interested in receiving applications from people who are suitably qualified, persistent, determined, patient, thorough, pay attention to detail, and can remain calm in stressful situations. You will need to be an excellent communicator and have a professional yet personable manner.
