The Scottish Qualifications Authority is Scotland’s national awarding and accreditation body. We are trusted to oversee thousands of qualifications that are available in schools, colleges and workplaces, not just in this country, but around the world.
We are looking for a part-time Qualifications Officer to work within our Qualification Development team, working with in English. Language and Business team. This role covers a portfolio of subjects in the following area: National Qualifications in Media.
The successful candidate will be required to project manage a range of clearly defined, short to medium term projects relating to the development, implementation, maintenance and servicing of a specified range of qualifications, associated surrounds, and services to a high degree of service delivery and customer focus. In order to do this you must be able to demonstrate experience in the following specific duties:
- Work in partnership with colleagues to ensure effective delivery of SQA qualifications and assessments
- Work in partnership with a range of internal business areas to support the effective delivery of SQA qualifications, goods and services to centres
- Provide support to line manager and colleagues in Appointee Services in the selection, recruitment, training and monitoring of appointees e.g.
- External Verifiers
- Principal assessors
- National Qualification Support team members
Additionally you must be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
- An ability to build meaningful relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Be a skilled communicator both orally and in writing with the ability to produce high quality written text and reports on complex issues, negotiate with stakeholders and give presentations on established policy and procedures
- A keen eye for attention to detail to proof-read, analyse and edit formal documentation
- Planning and managing complex pieces of work.
Applicants, as a minimum, should be educated to SCQF Level 7 (HNC/SVQ 3) and/or be able to demonstrate direct relevant experience for this role.
Also, role model the behaviours associated with SQA’s values (Trusted, Progressive and Enabling) in order to develop and sustain a productive and positive culture.

This role will require some working at weekends and visiting other sites with over-time opportunities.
