QUALITY CONTROL TECHNICIAN (MEDICAL DEVICES BIOTECHNOLOGY PHARMA)
BASED LIVINGSTON SALARY NEGOTIABLE UP TO £27,500 PLUS BENS
Based in Livingston, ESS Recruit’s client is a successful medical device business that has been contributing to the healthcare industry for over 30 years. From the volume manufacturing site in Livingston, the company supplies products to global markets, specialising in both ophthalmic and orthopaedic medical devices. With support and significant investment from group level, the Livingston site continues to grow and expand, requiring talented individuals to contribute to the company’s continued success and ongoing FDA accreditation journey. To help enable this we now need to recruit a Quality Control (QC) Technician.
As a Quality Control Technician within the Quality Control department, the successful candidate will take responsibility for quality control testing at many stages throughout the production process. This will include raw material, in-process, and finished goods testing.
Responsibilities:
- Carry out routine assays and a variety of techniques using HPLC, GCMS, FTIR, etc., in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures
- Record and interpret analysis results
- Carry out routine calibrations of QC testing equipment
- Raise any Non-Conformances or Out of Specification documentation as required
- Support improvement tasks within the laboratory
- Work professionally and safely, ensuring all health and safety protocols are followed
- Support with daily housekeeping in the laboratory
The relevant candidate is educated to BSc or equivalent in a relevant scientific discipline; Microbiology, Biochemistry, Chemistry or Forensic Science. We will consider candidates from a range of Quality Control / QC lab backgrounds but ideally you have worked in medical devices, pharmaceuticals or biotechnology QC environments. Candidates will be able to demonstrate their ability to structure and optimise a testing laboratory, will have extensive method development experience and excellent technical writing, analytical and data analysis skills. Exposure to FDA regulations would be distinct advantage.

Our client is open to a discussion on base salary with a general figure of c£25,000 to £27,500 in mind plus personal and site bonuses, generous pension, healthcare, excellent holiday allowance and a flexible hours working policy.
