Mainly dayshift Monday to Friday but flexibility is required (including weekends and bank holidays including being on call)

The base location for this role is Balliol Business Park, Newcastle
Reporting to the Regional Technical Manager you will be a QA Manager working alongside other QA Managers covering the sites under Balliol responsibility, with a direct responsibility for food safety and quality standards. You will be part of a technical team that is heavily involved with day-to-day factory floor operations across low-risk manufacturing, packing and storage areas, ensuring high standards are maintained and current site systems are challenged and developed. You will be expected to build strong relationships across the sites and work closely with technical teams within the region. The role will involve travel to other sites under Balliol responsibility, therefore a full clean driving licence is essential.
What you'll doWorking closely with the site teams, the role is responsible for:
Leading a team of Quality Assurance Technicians
Working with production, logistics, engineering, and hygiene teams to ensure the highest standards of food safety, quality and legality are maintained
Steering the annual site BRCGS audit and other enforcement inspections ensuring the site works to the requirements of the BRCGS Food standard
Driving improvements in site standards, product quality and food safety
Leading the HACCP team, ensuring full implementation of the HACCP plan and prerequisites
Managing the sites allergen management and risk assessment process
Facilitating product recalls and withdrawals
Supporting the management of sites document control systems
Providing management reports on levels of performance for KPI data
Assisting with the completion of internal audits and inspections
Managing non-conformances and corrective / preventative actions
We are looking for individuals who are driven, and can demonstrate:
A Degree level education in a Food Science based subject
HACCP Level 3 and Food Safety Level 4 qualifications
Food industry experience essential – Min. 3 years in a similar managerial role
Practical knowledge of the BRCGS Food Standard and Quality Management Systems
Internal audit qualification and experience auditing against the BRCGS food standard
Proven experience of leadership, decision making and team management
A result focused approach with excellent communication skills and the ability to influence others
Enjoy being part of a hard-working team, sharing the same end goal, and celebrating results together
Proficient in IT (word, excel, PowerPoint, outlook, office 365)
