About the Role
Would you like to be involved in designing and developing the systems that handle payment processing at ASOS?
The Payments Platform team are responsible for complex integrations with a wide variety of payments providers. In our team you’ll have the opportunity to work in an incredible depth of detail, fully getting to grips with the ins and outs of how the full payments lifecycle works.
We process 1000’s of transactions per minute accurately and securely. As part of our platform you’ll receive regular security training and have opportunities to work on performance problems at serious scale.
What you'll be doing
- Working within your Agile team and with business stakeholders to deliver well-crafted microservices/event-driven architecture-based software.
- Interrogating the quality of software delivery - this includes our ways of working, the design and architecture of the features the team are implementing from the perspective of functional and non-functional testing, and the technologies we’re using.
- Implementing microservices/API tests.
- Learning from some of the best in the business who employ mature engineering practices through pairing, knowledge sharing sessions, leveraging the wider QA Community, and dedicated QA training modules.
- Implementing CI/CD practices and deployment strategies that will enable confident release of software and protect customers from downtime.
- Supporting teams to implement new tools and quality practices and models such as test first/shift-left, the testing pyramid, and Agile testing quadrants.
- Supporting our culture by championing Diversity, Equity & Inclusion strategies.

- Azure DevOps to manage work items and CI/CD pipelines

Who we'd like to meet
- You’ll have experience as a technical QA Engineer who specialises in thorough technical test analysis and automation testing of microservices/APIs.
- You'll have a fantastic understanding of, and experience with, a breadth of testing types and techniques.
- You’ll be able to define, plan, and drive out all relevant testing types and phases – Unit, Component, System, Integration, and manage UAT with various 3rd party elements – both internal and external.
- You’ll have strong analytical skills with a great understanding of architecture and business requirements, and an ability to drive conversations around quality with product owners and business customers.
- You’ll be able to follow an evolving test strategy based on the system architecture, and the governance and guidelines around the software testing life cycle.
- You’ll be able to define test cases against a complex architecture and a set of business requirements using relevant test design techniques.
- You’ll be able to define and implement BDD-structured automated microservice/API tests within an existing automation framework.
- You'll have experience in an Agile environment.
- You’ll have a non-functional, SRE-based appreciation of microservices, focusing on resiliency testing types, such as performance, security, and availability testing.
